Please set your GPS to Coordinates: S -24° 30.551 E031° 06.130 These Coordinates will navigate to the turn off for our Guernsey Reserve Gate: Many GPS and map systems can not navigate to our lodge. Better to navigate to our reserve entrance. *We recommend a stop in Hoedspruit to get food, petrol, firewood, etc.

Our roads in the reserve and for several kilometers leading to the reserve are dirt roads. Most of the time they are easily accessed by all types of vehicles if you drive carefully. Some areas are corrugated and in rainy season can become challenging without an SUV , truck , or 4 wheel drive. Please contact us for road conditions prior to your arrival if you are concerned. The “Orpen Road” route has an newly improved dirt road is in very good condition.

From Johannesburg without stopping in Hoedspruit

From JHB – Proceed East along the N4 passing Witbank and Middleburg. Turn left onto the R540 at Belfast. From Belfast proceed through Dullstroom to Lydenburg. From Lydenburg take the R36 to Ohrigstad. Stay on this road passing through the Strijdom Tunnel. Keep on this road for 29 km until you see the sign for Swadini / Orpen which is the R531. Turn right here and continue for 32 km.
At Coordinates S-24° 34.048 E031° 03.55 is the turn off. You will pass through a control gate onto “The Guernsey Road”. Continue around 8.5km (dirt road) until you see the sign for Guernsey Nature Reserve which is on the right and after Giraffe Camp and Phelwana – who each have signs along the road.( It is after Matumi and the next reserve after Phelwana.) Turn inside here and continue for about 2 km (dirt road) until you reach the reserve gate. Once inside, follow the Bona Ntaba signs to our main building for check in.

From Orpen Gate of Kruger

Stay on the R531 (Orpen Road) for about 40 km. Turn right at the sign for Guernsey At Coordinates S-24° 34.048 E031° 03.55 is the turn off. You will pass through a control gate onto “The Guernsey Road”

There are 2 ways to go: The Orpen Road Route is the road in best condition. The 2nd is the R40 Route. 4x4 will have an easy time on the R40 Route as will cars most of the time if you are carefull. Head South on the R40 out of town (the Pick n Pay Plaza is on this road) towards White River. After 23 km turn left when you see the Guernsey sign (just 1 – 2 km after the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre). Just past this is the first turnoff (R40 Route) or continue to use the Orpen Road Route

From Here: R40 Route: At Coordinates S-24° 34.048 E031° 03.55 is the turn off. You will pass through a control gate Go through the Control gate and continue on this road for about 11 km (road becomes dirt half way). When you reach the end of this road (T Junction), turn right. After about 4 km (dirt road) you will see the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve sign on your left. Coordinates for the Guernsey Nature Reserve Gate (our gate) turn off are : S -24° 30.551 E031° 06.130. We are the next reserve after Jackalberry. Turn inside here and continue for about 2 km (dirt road) until you reach the reserve gate. Follow the Bona Ntaba signs to our main building for check in.

Orpen Road Route : The dirt portion of this route has recently been improved .Continue on the R40 until you get to a T junction. Take a left. This is still the R40. Continue a few kms until you see signs and a turn off for the Orpen Road R531 on the left. Turn here. From Nelspruit:

Take the R40 towards White River. Continue on the R40 towards Hazyview, Bushbuckridge, Acornhoek. Hazyview has a good grocery and petrol stations Continue straight on the R40 till you see the sign for Orpen (R531) Turn right onto R531
